Iconostasis Installed

imageThe holy brotherhood rejoices in the installation of our new iconostasis, being crafted by our dear friend, Doctor Bob Fouty. The photo shows the preliminary construction, with much more to come. When completed, the iconostasis will have beautiful new icons, serpentine columns on either side of the Royal Doors, and new, hand crafted Royal and Deacon doors. We’ll keep you posted with new photos as the progress continues.

Onion Dome Arrives

imageThe monastery’s new onion dome has arrived.  We hope to have it in place on top of the temple before the August 16th Monastery Pilgrimage. Designed and built by Edward Pierson, the dome awaits a gold three bar cross, fabricated by Alexander Karg.

imageThe transport of the onion dome drew lots of attention as it was driven across the island from a Vashon Airport hanger, about 10 miles from the monastery, where it was constructed.

Construction Update

imageArchpriest David Moser, together with Reader Andrew and Steven, drove up from Boise, Idaho, to help the monks construct our bookstore/office building. At the same time, we are having the brick plaza and fountain installed, between the temple and the trapeza. The onion dome is nearing completion, as well, and everything should be completed before the August 16th Monastery Pilgrimage.

Again, we wish to thank our friends and supporters for your continued financial and prayerful support. Now numbering five, we have four others who’ve voiced interest in joining us. image
We now have cells for seven monks, and will need to begin construction of four more small cabins, so we can house additional monks, as well as pilgrims.

Please, if you are able to contribute to this building project, please know that you will be forever commemorated as “founders of this holy monastery”, during the services.
