Christ is Risen! Christos Anesti! Christos Voskrese!

image CHRIST IS RISEN!
We greet our friends and benefactors with these words, “Christ is Risen.” The Irmos from the Paschal Canon by St. John of Damascus reads: “O come let us drink, not miraculous water drawn from a barren stone, but a new vintage from the fount of incorruption, springing from the tomb of Christ, in whom we are established.” This miracle of the Resurrection of Christ Jesus from the dead doesn’t stop here but is, just as was the raising of Lazarus from the dead, a precursor to the promise of our own resurrection.

This day is marked, just as it has been for centuries, by the “Miracle of the Fire” in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in the Holy City of Jerusalem. We invite our friends to log into the following web site for the history, as well as photographs, of this most incredible event: http://www.holyfire.org/eng

Watch a series of videos showing the joy and excitement centered around this event shot before and after the Holy Fire.

May the joy of Pascha be with all of you throughout this year.

TRULY HE IS RISEN!

Winter in the Pacific NW?

imageEleven inches of snow and cold, this is suppose to be the Pacific NW!  The trade off of course is that the monastery grounds are beautiful.

imageThe new icon of St. Herman of Alaska,
written for the monks by our friend, Father Peter Dally, looks very
much at home on the grounds of the Monastery.
