We are grateful to islander, Brian Fisher of Presentation Arts, for the drawings shown on this page, thus allowing us to show our friends and benefactors what the Monastery will look like when completed. Presently the church and library, together with the smaller monastic cell (seen in the upper right hand corner) are completed. The gardens are as seen in this drawing, as is the St. John the Wonderworker Chapel in the upper left corner. The three monastic cells now under construction are on the right. Yet to be completed is the dining hall (Trapeza) and kitchen (directly in front of the church) and the bookstore (the two storied building) which will also house the shipping and handling for our coffee business, as well as offices for the community. At the present time we still have many volunteers who stand in wait for the next phase of the project, the building of the Trapeza.  Funds are needed for the building supplies and construction materials. Your donation will go a long way, given the donated labor we are receiving.  God bless all of you for your generosity towards this holy cause.

The Russian Tall Ship, Pallada

Pallada Recently, twenty-nine tall ships from around the world anchored in Quartermaster Harbor near the Monastery. Thanks to a friend of the monastic community, Captain John Burke, the monks were ferried in a dinghy to the Russian tall ship, The Pallada, where they were the guests of the ships captain and crew. The training ship is 365 feet in length and has a crew of 150 cadets and 40 officers. The experience of being aboard such a grand ship for over two hours was memorable indeed. The smiling faces of so many fellow Orthodox Christians from Russia was inspiring, and the monks were asked to pose for numerous photographs with members of the crew.
